April marks the one year anniversary of our ALEX AND ANI | CHARITY BY DESIGN partnership with The Herren Project for which we have the Take the Wheel Charm Bangle. This amazing organization provides assistance in taking the first steps toward recovery and a life of sobriety, helpful educational programs, and resources to increase awareness on the signs of addiction.
The Herren Project recently asked their social media followers what the Take the Wheel bangle meant to them and the responses were truly inspiring. We’re honored to share some with you and to be a part of something so special!

The wheel gives all families direction – with direction, you have HOPE.
The wheel proves that no matter how bad things get, like the recent loss of a friend to drugs, you can get back up and take control of your future.
The wheel represents steering in the right direction – away from suffering and addiction.
The wheel means deciding what you want in life and getting yourself there by taking a chance for the better.
To me, the wheel symbolizes allowing others to help and guide you throughout your journey. It’s also a symbol of everything my brother and others in recovery have been through and realizing that guidance is okay.
The wheel reminds me how life is an endless journey and to enjoy it to the fullest.
The wheel is a symbol to steer yourself on the right path and live everyday to the fullest.
In eighth grade I went down a dark path. I let a friend introduce me to alcohol and it quickly spun out of control. However, I was able to get my life back on track and better myself. I have learned to avoid peer pressure and stand up for my beliefs. I no longer let my friends influence my choices. I stay away from alcohol and refuse to do drugs. I took control of my life and made my voice heard.
Ships don’t sink because of the water surrounding them. Ships sink because of the water that seeps in them. Don’t let what’s happening around you get inside or weigh you down.
My daughter has been clean for 13 months. Our journey is just beginning.
For me, the wheel a reminder that I need to let God take the wheel. Surrendering was the beginning of my journey.
I wear the wheel everyday to remind myself that only I can navigate my path to happiness and not my addicted loved ones. I can help them, but they need to take their own wheels.
I walk away from bad influences. I refuse to let friends lead me down a dark road. I take control of my life and what I believe in. We all have a voice – stand up and speak up.
